Illinois Gaming Board Regulates Casino Industry
Starting on Aug. 15, the Par-A-Dice casino in Illinois will check the identification cards of players who seem thirty years of age or younger.
The move is the result of the instruction from the Illinois Gaming Board. The goal of this project is to make sure those problem gamblers or gambler addicts who enrolled themselves at the self exclusion program of the casinos can no longer play at any Illinois casinos.
The casinos will check the name and information in their ID's and if the name is included in the database of those enrolled in the self exclusion program, the individual cannot enter the casino. Trespassing charges might also be made against that individual.
The self exclusion program started in 2002. The individuals enrolled in the self exclusion program can not use their credit cards, cash checks or get credit for getting cash advances to play at the casinos.
Since July of 2002, there are more than three thousand individuals that were enrolled in the self exclusion program.
Any problem gambler can sign up to this program but he should agree that he can only remove himself from the list after five years. And if aside from the ban, the problem gambler still able to play at the casino; all his winnings will go to the support groups that help gambling addiction.
The decision of the Illinois Gaming Board to check the identification cards is to show that they are really committed in curbing the gambling addiction.
